Background:
As a third-generation art professional with more than two decades of personal experience in art advisory, art market analysis and international business, Valerie Kabov has a unique insight in to the workings of the art market and the art world on both micro and macro scales. She is the co-founder African Art Galleries Association and Emerging Painting Invitational the pan-African emerging painting prize, member of the Advisory Board of EAMAN the East African Museum of Art in Nairobi as well as committee member of Investec Cape Town Art Fair. Her projects have taken her to London, Paris, Sydney, Hong Kong and Moscow, with experience in auction advisory, collection development, collector education as well curating exhibitions and supporting professional education for museum and culture professionals. Valerie holds a Masters in Curatorship and Modern Art from University of Sydney, as well as degrees in Law and Economics from University of Melbourne, Australia. |

Over the past decade Valerie has been focused on her research and advisory practice on African contemporary art, developing an expansive network of contacts and resources with galleries, artists, collectors and institutions across the continent. as well as depth of understanding and analysis of the developments in the vibrant emerging market. Her advisory projects have involved both working to help support development of investment and subject specific collections, developing curatorial exhibition projects, as well as identifying and sourcing artworks for collectors and supporting engagement of artists by galleries. |
